I am being asked what life means

Like the student in class who is scared to say what they think because "how could I know?" Well of course you aren't sure, but you are lucky enough to have a life and be a human, so you get to determine a piece in the meaning of it.

You have a tiny amount of control over the arc of humanity, but you are lucky enough to have some. No matter how little power or influence you have, you have responsibility over your tiny web of influence (on people). Each challenge you face is figuring out how to best take care of this responsibility and do what is right.

In terms of your subjective self, the only thing to do is take care of this one moment, because It is always right now.

Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible. -- Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, pg. 109, loc. 1342-44
